GIULIA FRONTONI
Born in Rome in 1992, I grew up with a strong passion for outdoors activities and for big animals with fangs.
I quickly learned how important it is to find a compromise:
I started my artistic career inspired by nature‘s wonders such as horses and crocodiles and soon realized they were too big for my bedroom… but not for my sketchbook.
My artistic adventures came to a halt as I discovered thousands of awesome artists on the Internet. I could never get that good at drawing!
After three years of science-oriented high school I regretted my choice and I started to study on my own so as to enroll in an art school.
I managed to get in, but it was a disappointing experience.
I was still a self-taught, artblocked artist when I landed at the Nemo Academy of Florence, but there I was finally given the right knowledge to start working with fine arts as well as with digital arts. The Academy helped me define my goal as an artist: working as a concept designer. Science-fiction, exotic environments and predators are my main inspirationsj sports and videogames are my hobbies. At the moment, Im embracing a positive attitude, focusing on making up for the time I wasted thinking I was inadequate to be an artist.

Title
Antika – the city in the clouds
This book is a collection of concepts and illustrations intended to give a face to characters, creatures and environments of a fantastic world.
My teacher Luca Chiarotti created the story and the guidelines for the places and the characters, and I worked as a designer.
Starting from his writings, I tried to create a visually interesting and believable world, expanding the starting ideas and elaborating on every aspect of the World of Antika.
It’s the result of more than a year of non-stop work, that made me sweat and grow, but it also allowed me to plunge into the creation of something truly alive.
I hope this artbook will allow you to enter the world we’ve created!
